J2

back

We have 2 teachers in J2 -  Mrs Gladman and Miss Lisle

Mrs Gladman will be working with the class on Mondays and Tuesdays, then Miss Lisle takes over for the remainder of the week.

Below we have provided some information about the day to day running of the class.

Subject information

The following topics will be taught by Mrs Gladman in the Spring Term

Maths – data handling – tally charts, frequency tables, bar charts

mass – measure and compare using kilograms and grams

              shapes – area, angles, symmetry

In addition there will be regular sessions when the rapid recall of multiplication and division facts are practised

English –improving comprehension skills

spelling skills – plurals, prefixes, letter strings, root words

Science – electricity, life processes and living things

PSE – communication, self esteem

Welsh – Mrs Matthias, a teacher from outside the school, is timetabled to teach Welsh to the children every fortnight. The vocabulary taught is then practised in class, either incidentally or more formally.

Reading

As with other subjects, reading is split between the 2 teachers. Mrs Gladman works with 2 groups on Mondays and Tuesdays and Miss Lisle works with the remaining 3 groups for the rest of the week.

Library books

These must be returned to school every Friday.

Homework

It has been decided that homework will be set by each teacher for half a term. Thus, for the Spring Term, Miss Lisle will set it until February Half Term. Mrs Gladman will then set it for the remainder of the term.

PE/Games

Games take place on Wednesdays. Full PE kit is required. No jewellery is allowed for the session

PE is on Fridays and again full kit is required and no jewellery is allowed.
