Our teacher for academic year 2011/2012 is Mrs Lloyd.

We are Year 2 !

We have been celebrating Diwali.  We dressed up in Indian clothes and learnt how to make Rangoli patterns.  We learnt about Indian dance and all had a go!  We used puppets to act out the story of Rama and Sita, then we lit our Diva lamps for a lovely Indian feast.

We have been finding out all about space.

We found a letter from a space bug. We thought he travelled to earth by meteorite so we visited the Museum by train to find out all about rocks and we saw some real rocks from space. We made our own rock museum.

 
We have been finding out about all the planets to help space bug on his mission. We have made planet fact files, clay space bugs, planets, space number games and telescopes for our observatory.
     
Year 2 are space experts!!

What else do we do in Year 2?

We have a gardening gang and are planting flowers, fruit and vegetables.

We have a computer club and can use the lap top trolley.
 

We have a group of masterchefs and are learning to make healthy snacks to share with the whole class.

 

Throughout the year we will all have a turn in every club.

The Whitchurch Fire Fighters came to tell us about fire safety. We listened so well that we were allowed to have a go at squirting the hoses!

We had Zumba dancing lessons....
 

SCIENCE - We experimented with rocket balloons.  We found out that the more air you put in, the further the balloon will go.  We measured how far they went with the trundle wheel.  We found out that if you don't use the string, the balloon goes everywhere!!
     
We used the stomp rocket for science too.  We found out that a long run up made the rocket shoot up but a short run up made it go higher!  The bigger the person who jumps, the higher the rocket will go.
     
     
We used a catapult rocket too.  The longer we stretched the elastic, the further the rocket would go.
 

Our trip to the Museum.

We took the train to Cardiff and went to the museum.  We found out all about rocks.  Then we chose our favourite thing in the museum to make a museum of our own.
