This year's Science
competition was all about saving energy. Challenges were given
to all age groups from Nursery through to Year 6.
Reception and Nursery children were asked to
design and make a wind decoration for their playground.
The children in Years 1 and 2
were asked to investigate ways to save energy in the home.
Lower Junior children were set
the challenge of researching wind farms. They were asked to
weigh up the advantages and disadvantages and to state their own
view on this source of renewable energy.
Many entries were received in the form of
powerpoints - well done to all Lower Juniors who took part.
Upper Juniors were challenged to
choose the best site for six renewable energy projects including a
wind farm, a wave machine, a tidal barrage and a hydroelectric dam.
One of these sources of renewable energy should then be chosen, a
question posed and a research project carried out to answer the
question.
Again, many entries were
received electronically. The standard was extremely high -
congratulations to all who took part.
Congratulations to the winners...
Congratulations to the winners - William, Sterre,
Eleri and Emily - scientists of the future!!
