A recent Context for Learning was Night Time and all the children in nursery came to school in their pyjamas. We read and sang ten in the bed and the children made a quilt and painted faces for our display.

We made star biscuits and at snack time sat under our sleeping bags and had milk and stars for our midnight snack. We also listened to stories about night time such as Peace at Last or Whatever Next and sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

We have been making ROCKETS with multi-link, junk model rockets and performed a rocket and star dance. We are learning to count backwards as we go up to space in our rockets!

All week the children have been investigating and exploring in the sensory room. They have enjoyed the pyramid mirror, shining torches, slinky and different textured balls, along with making shadow pictures using the projector.

We have learnt about VEHICLES.  The children gave their ideas on how to make a train station and have had great fun being the driver and the passengers going on many journeys.

We got really excited about cleaning a real car! We named the parts of the car as we washed with sponges and wipers.  We also got to sit in the driver's seat, beeped the horn, put on the wipers and listened to the radio.  We watched our teacher drive the car and the tyres made patterns on the playground.

The next day in Nursery we made our own car wash in the playground and we played washing cars with our friends.

We had a fantastic time at Heath Park miniature railway with our teachers and parents.  We all had a ride on the trains, we went through a tunnel and under a bridge waving to our friends and family waiting at the station.

We then went to the park and had a picnic.

We learnt about Autumn time and went on an Autumn walk.  We collected lots of leaves, sticks, acorns and pine cones.  We had great fun kicking, throwing and lying in the leaves with our friends.

We found little doors on some of the trees and we knocked to see who was at home!
