Title: My Secret Diary
Author: Jacqueline
Wilson
Illustrator: Nick
Sharratt

The Blurb: ‘Ever since
I was little, I have loved writing stories and poems. I would get an
idea, buy a new exercise book, and start writing industriously,
thinking myself the creator of masterpiece. But by the end of the
week I would think of another better idea and repeat the rigmarole.
But now I have the better idea of writing a diary, as I hope I will
never get sick of my own life . . . I’m only ordinary, admittedly,
but interesting things do sometimes happen to me.’
Favourite part of the
story: When she used to go to her best friend Chris’s house everyday
after school.
Favourite Character:
Jacqueline Wilson
The part I disliked
the most: When she used to feel really embarrassed in front of her
best friend because her parents
used to row a lot.
Why was it a good
plot? : Because I got to find out more about Jacqueline Wilson’s
life history.
Why I thought it was
readable? : Because I thought it would be interesting to read more
about Jacqueline Wilson.
Have I read any other
books by the same author? : Yes I have.
The mark I would give
it out of 10: 10/10
My overall comment: I
am really enjoying reading My Secret Diary, because I don’t know
that much about the author’s life history and things like that.

My book
review by Max Davies

Title: Calvin
and Hobbes the revenge of the baby-sat.
Author and
illustrator: Bill Watterson.
Calvin is 6
years old and Hobbes is a stuffed tiger who Calvin thinks is alive.
This is a collection of comic strips from newspapers.
I like all of
the comic strips but my favourite is when Calvin reads out his
demands to Rosalyn (the baby sitter).
I don’t
dislike any part of the book because it is funny.
I thought it
was readable because it looked good and I like humour books.
yes I have
read over Calvin and Hobbes collections such as something under the
bed is drooling and the lazy Sunday book.
9
½ out

my overall is
comment is very good!

Title:
The Fire Thief trilogy
Author:
Terry Deary
Illustrator: Has no pictures

This
book is about a man called Prometheus, half god half man, but he
gives fire too the humans when Zeus (His cousin) doesn’t like the
humans. So Prometheus has his liver ripped out every morning for the
past 200 years! By a bird called Fury. Then Zeus lets him prove he
is wrong and lets him go on one condition he must prove humans
are
good.
My
favourite part is where Prometheus finds a boy called Dave in a
Greek village called Olympus
(That’s
where Zeus lives), and Prometheus shows Dave the way to being good
and tells him of all the great battles with Zeus.
My
favourite character is Dave because he doesn’t know really what’s
going on then he asks stupid questions, as well as answering Zeus
back snappily.
I
didn’t have a bit of the book that I disliked. The book gets you
engaged so that is why I didn’t have part I disliked.
I loved
this story because Terry Deary melted facts from Greece into the
story, that’s why I love this book so much.
I
thought it was readable because it had over 300 pages and I love
reading as you know, so I got stuck into the book and I loved it!
Yes I
have read Horrible Histories by Terry Derry.
I rate
this book 10/10.

Book Review of my favourite book by Ben

Title:
What Bumosaur is that?
Author: Andy Griffiths
Illustrator: Terry Denton

The book is about a different reality of
dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. Instead of being the actual
dinosaurs that have been discovered it is about fantasy dinosaurs.
These fantasy dinosaurs are all about butts and farts! They have
names with bums and farts in such as “Diarrheoesaurus”, “Poopigator”
and “Bumadactyl”. The book tells you each Bumosaur’s stench rating
out of five and about what they do and what they eat. My favourite
is the Fartosaurus because it a giant cloud of pure fart and kills
anything in its path that dares to smell it. Perhaps some of the
words are a little bit too strong for some people and might be
unsuitable for under seven year olds. I thought it was readable
because I like the idea of things that don’t exist and the idea of
fantasy creatures. I’ve also read “Just Disgusting” by the same
author but some of that book is just too disgusting.
I give it 10 out of 10
A funny and interesting book.

Title-
Tirion’s Secret Journal
Author-Jenny Sullivan
Illustrator-Brett Breckon

The
book is about a girl called Tirion who is 10 years old and is made
to work as a servant in Llancaiach Fawr Manor.
My
favourite part is when Ifor played tricks on Tirion. He would put
spiders where she had to clean and Tirion was scared of spiders.
Tirion
is favourite character because she writes silly things about her
step father.
My
least favourite part is when some characters were horrible to Tirion.
It was
a good story because it showed me what life was like for a 10 years
old servant in the olden days.
I
haven’t read any other books by the same author but I would like to.
I would
give the book 9/10.
I
enjoyed reading this book as I visited where the book is set and
have seen Tirions work place and I have met the author.

Joshua Stewart’s
Book Review
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

The book I have read lately is Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory, the author is Roald Dahl and is illustrated by
Quentin Blake.
“Mr Wonka’s inventions are out of this world. He thought up every
kind of sweet imaginable in his amazing chocolate factory, but no
one has ever seen inside or met Mr Wonka! Charlie Bucket can’t
believe his luck when he finds a golden ticket and wins the trip of
a lifetime around the famous chocolate factory. He still could never
have dreamed what surprises lie in store!”
My favourite part of the
story is when Mr Wonka sent Mike Teavee across the room via
television, which made him shrink so small, and Mr Wonka told one of
the Oompa Loompas to take Mr and Mrs Teavee up to the taffy puller
to stretch Mike out. My favourite character in the story is Mr Willy
Wonka, because he is so dotty and loony. I don’t like the part when
Charlie’s family begin to starve. The story’s plot was good because
it showed that just because you have everything you want doesn’t
make you a nice person and that if you are kind and caring towards
others, people are willing to give you nice things. I found this
book very enjoyable as it had lots of funny words and it had lots of
sweets and chocolate, yum yum!!!
I have read many of Roald
Dahl’s books including, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Giraffe Pelly and Me
and the Twits plus many more. I would give this book 10/10!
I would like to say this book is so clever Roald Dahl was a good man
because he thought about his stories all by himself and used very
good illustrations in his book, which made the book more interesting
to read.

Title
Beast Quest Ferno the Fire dragon
Author
Adam blade
Illustrator David Wyatt
My
favourite part is the ending because
he frees
the dragon and that started off his quest.
My
favourite character is Tom, he is the hero in the books.
I thought
that it was a good story because it was interesting and exciting.
I didn’t
like the beginning of the book because it talks about how he got
there.
I think
it was readable and the blurb was interesting.
I have
books by the same author- Beast Quest, Sepron the Serpent and Beast
Quest Arcta, The monsters giant.
I would
rate this out of 9 out of 10.
